Dr. Borut Marn

Pediatrics

He graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, in 1976 and passed his specialist exam in otorhinolaryngology and cervicofacial surgery in 1982 at the Clinic for Otorhinolaryngology and Cervicofacial Surgery at KBC "Sestre Milosrdnice." After his exam, he worked as the Head of the Department for Diagnostics and Rehabilitation at the SUVAG Polyclinic in Zagreb. He obtained his master's degree in 1992, his primariat in 1993, and his doctorate in 1998. Since 2004, he has been a subspecialist in audiology. He has lectured at various audiological-rehabilitation institutions in Europe and the USA. From 1994 to 2017, he worked at the Children's Hospital Zagreb as the Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Neurosurgery, and Ophthalmology.

Qualifications

He introduced evoked otoacoustic emission testing and frequency audiometry with auditory evoked potentials to Croatia. In 2002, he conceptualized and introduced hearing screening in all maternity hospitals in Croatia and initiated the development of the national program for early hearing loss detection. In the same year, he founded the Croatian Association for Early Diagnosis of Hearing Loss. He received the Zagreb City Plaque in 2004 for his scientific contribution to hearing loss detection and for initiating the national project for early hearing loss detection. His primary area of interest is pediatric otorhinolaryngology. In 2022, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Croatian Association for Early Childhood Intervention (HURID) in the field of early childhood intervention, and in 2023, he received the Zagreb City Award.
