Dr. Milan Stanojevic
He graduated from the Medical Academy in Warsaw, Poland, in 1979. He completed postgraduate studies in clinical pediatrics at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1986/87 and postgraduate studies in perinatology and neonatology in 1987/88 at the same institution.
Qualifications
He became a Master of Science in 1991, a Doctor of Science in 2006, and a scientific associate in 2007. In 2013, he earned the title of senior scientific associate. Since 2013, he has been an adjunct lecturer at the Faculty of Teacher Education at the University of Zagreb and since 2011 an associate professor at DIU Libertas International University in Dubrovnik. He earned the title of primarius in 2004 and became a subspecialist in neonatology in 2007.
Experience
He worked as a physician from 1980 to 1987 and as a pediatrician from 1987 to 2000 at the General Hospital "Dr. Tomislav Bardek" in Koprivnica, where he served as head of the Neonatology Department from 1992. Since 2000, he has worked at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the "Sveti Duh" University Hospital, becoming the head of the Neonatology Department in 2007. He retired on November 14, 2018. He participated in several scientific projects and has been a member of UNICEF's expert team in Croatia for over 20 years, responsible for education in support, promotion, and protection of breastfeeding programs. As the coordinator for the "Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative" program, he published a Handbook for healthcare workers in Croatian on UNICEF's international educational platform Agora. He has mentored one PhD and seven graduate theses and was a member of the evaluation committee for three PhDs. He also mentored three pediatric specialists.
Publications
He has published 347 works, including 168 in journals and 179 at conferences, with 54 invited presentations without publications. He has over 3,800 citations and an H-index of 30 (Scopus). He has written 66 book chapters and edited seven books, including the popular book "First Steps in Parenthood," which won an award at the Sarajevo Book Fair. Recently, he published a textbook in Polish on the first examination of newborns, featuring his own photographs and video clips. He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs and regularly contributed articles on children's health to the magazine "Bebe." Membership
He is a regular member of the International Academy of Perinatal Medicine, the European Academy of Arts and Sciences, and since 2022, the International Academy of Sciences and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He served two terms as president of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine. He is a member of the Ian Donald School of Medical Ultrasound and the international society "Fetus as a Patient." He holds honorary professorships at several universities and institutes and has been a visiting professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in New York, and the Medical University of Warsaw.
Certificates
He received the Medal of the City of Koprivnica for scientific achievements in medicine, the "Ladislav Rakovac" award from the Croatian Medical Association, and the "William Liley" medal from the international association The Fetus as a Patient. In 2019, he received the "Global Maternity Prize" awarded by the International Academy of Perinatal Medicine, and in 2022, he was awarded the prestigious Golden Cross by the President of Poland for his contributions to scientific and cultural cooperation between Poland and Croatia.
