Dr. Velimir Simunic
Prof. Ph.D. Velimir Šimunić is a full-time professor of gynecology and obstetrics at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb. His specialty is human reproduction (subspecialist) and he is the long-term president of the Croatian Society for Human Reproduction and Gynecological Endocrinology at the Croatian Medical Association. Prof. Šimunić was the Head of the Institute for Human Reproduction in Petrova and educated numerous experts from the country and abroad.
Qualifications
He defended his master's degree and doctorate at the University of Zagreb. Prof. Šimunić already in 1982/83. started the IVF program in Petrova and was the leader of experts who, as the 8th country in the world, achieved the conception and birth of Croatia's first IVF baby, Roberta Veriga. Since then, he has helped more than 4,500 children to be born using these methods.

He spent his previous working life in the most prestigious gynecological clinic of the Faculty of Medicine and KBC Zagreb, in Petrova.

Prof. Šimunić is a member of numerous international professional associations, editor of several reputable magazines. He is the author or co-author, along with more than 250 heterocitations by foreign experts. He has published more than 160 professional and scientific papers, 30 books and professional texts, and several scientific projects. He has held more than 250 plenary lectures as an invited lecturer in the country and abroad, actively participated in about a hundred congresses, and organized and chaired about 20 congresses himself. and the Symposium.
