Electrotherapy - galvanization

About

Direct current, known as galvanic current, is obtained by converting alternating current with a frequency of 50 Hz and a voltage of 220 V. It is used therapeutically for vascular diseases, circulation disorders, and rheumatic conditions (excluding active inflammatory phases). In cases of paralysis and paresis, galvanic current serves as an introductory step in electrostimulation. Galvanic current induces hyperemia by reducing skin resistance, resulting in stronger muscle contractions with minimal stimulation. Sensitivity to galvanic currents varies individually, and intensity should be adjusted according to the patient's subjective perception.

Preparation

Indication of a physiatrist is required.

Treatment

We apply galvanic current through two electrodes, affecting nerve endings responsible for pain transmission, thereby reducing or eliminating pain. Galvanic current induces vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), resulting in increased blood flow known as hyperemia. The skin under the applied electrode becomes warmer, redder, and moister.

ZagrebMed patient reviews

I needed help while in Zagreb with quite a complex problem regarding a non-EU prescription. Ivana from ZagrebMed went above and beyond. I've rarely encountered someone so professional and kind, who helped solve a medical issue, one often far more difficult when abroad, so quickly. I cannot praise her, and as a result, the ZagrebMed, enough.
