Shock wave therapy, dolorclast
About
Dolorclast is a device used for extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT). Shockwave therapy initiates healing processes that continue in the body for weeks after treatment. ESWT is a therapeutic procedure using a pneumatic source of mechanical shockwaves transmitted to the painful area through a specialized probe. It is applied in sports medicine, orthopedics, and physiotherapy.
Dolorclast is applied to reduce pain and dissolve calcifications, especially when conventional therapies have been unsuccessful. Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive solution for chronic pain in shoulders, back, elbows, knees, or heels (such as heel spurs, shoulder calcifications, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, and jumper's knee).
Preparation
Indication of a physiatrist is required.
Treatment
With the probe, a shock wave is applied to the painful area or to the site of the calcification. The procedure consists of 3 to 5 treatments at intervals of 5 to 7 days.
