Dr. Trpimir Vrdoljak
Dr. Trpimir Vrdoljak is an orthopaedic specialist with extensive clinical and sports medicine experience, as well as international training in minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is particularly renowned for performing the EDA (efficient direct anterior) total hip replacement — a surgical technique involving the implantation of artificial hip joints through a direct anterior approach, which avoids muscle cutting and significantly speeds up recovery. In addition to surgical procedures, he is also highly experienced in conservative treatment of locomotor system injuries and is one of the pioneers of PRP therapy for muscle and joint injuries in Croatia.
Qualifications
Dr. Vrdoljak graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1998. Following his internship, he began his career at the Sports Clinic of the Zagreb Sports Association, where he worked until 2007. He completed his orthopaedic residency in 2012 at the “Sveti Duh” University Hospital in Zagreb. During his residency, he trained in Switzerland as an EFORT scholarship holder and later received specialized education in Belgium for performing the EDA surgical technique. He continuously attends high-level professional courses to further enhance his surgical skills and knowledge.
Experience
From the beginning of his career, Dr. Vrdoljak has been closely involved with sports medicine. He has worked with top-level athletes, serving as the team doctor for the Croatian national athletics team and both the men's and women’s national volleyball teams. From 2012 to 2013, he was the personal physician to professional tennis player Marcos Baghdatis on the ATP Tour. He has also provided care for many other professional and amateur athletes, with a focus on the prevention and treatment of both acute and chronic injuries.
Membership
He is a member of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) and regularly participates in international training and professional events in the field of orthopaedics and sports medicine.
