Intrauterine device removal
About
The intrauterine device (IUD - intrauterine device or spiral) is made of plastic whose shape is adapted to the inside of the uterus. It is coated with a copper wire (copper spiral) or contains a small container of hormones (hormone spiral). Extraction or removal of the intrauterine device is as quick and safe a procedure as its installation. Removal of the intrauterine device is done when the period of safe contraceptive action has expired, if you are planning a pregnancy or when you do not want to have an intrauterine device for any other reason.
Preparation
No special preparation is required.
Treatment
After washing the external genitalia and the vagina, the threads of the intrauterine device (coil) are observed in the speculum, they are grasped with forceps and completely removed. The procedure is quick and painless. If the intrauterine device cannot be removed in the manner described, other methods are used (curettage or hysteroscopy).
