About

Screening MRI of the abdomen is a diagnostic technique used to scan abdominal organs without the use of contrast agents and ionizing radiation. This method provides a detailed view of the structures within the abdominal cavity, including organs such as the liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, and other abdominal organs. It is commonly used to detect changes or pathologies within the abdominal cavity and can help diagnose various conditions such as tumors, cysts, or inflammatory processes. Since it does not use X-ray radiation, screening an MRI of the abdomen is considered safer compared to some other diagnostic methods.

Candidate

We particularly recommend the method in case of pronounced flatulence that makes ultrasound examination difficult, in case of clinical suspicion of various processes in the abdomen, and as a screening method in case of a positive family history of pancreatic tumors. In the case of a positive finding, we supplement the method with a contrast examination.

Preparation

No special preparation is required.

Treatment

It is mandatory to remove all metal objects from the body before entering the room where the MR device is located. The staff working on the device will lay you down on the device table in a position that depends on the part of the body being examined. An additional device, a coil, will be placed around the part of the body being examined, and serves to send and receive radio waves into and out of the body and ensures the quality of the obtained images.
